Matarangi and what a lovely place this is. Asked at The Dunes Golf Resort 0800 165 777 if we could stay and they said yes we could and please tell all your friends. Free but please use our restaurant and bar. They noted they saw our rally at Buffalo Beach.

Tarawera Lake and Falls. 25kms from Kawerau. You do need a permit to drive in, which is provided for $5 per vehicle from the Information Centre in Kawerau. Seems like a long way to get there, but well worth the trip. There is a twenty minute walk to the Falls from the Falls car park or you can choose the longer option/s to walk from the lake to the falls or vice versa. There is a Doc Camp by the Lake but the roads are pumice and bumpy, so you may wish to drive in for an afternoon or day trip rather than take your 5th Wheel.
Te Aroha Try out the Mineral Spa Tub for two. 30 minutes of bliss.
